"KFC wishes to point out that all of its chicken on the bone products are produced from approved and closely monitored UK producers only," KFC said in a statment. KFC is owned by Tricon Global Restaurants Inc of the United States. "KFC has traditionally only sourced a very small percentage (15%) of its breast fillets, and an even smaller percentage (2.6%) of its Hot Wings, from Belgium and this has been ceased immediately." Europe's latest food scandal broke nearly a week ago when cancer-causing dioxin was found in Belgian chicken and eggs. On Wednesday, the EU's top veterinary committee backed plans to trace and destroy all the contaminated eggs and chickens. KFC has no restaurants in Belgium. Information on other KFCs in Europe was not immediately available. Copyright 1999 Reuters Limited. All rights reserved.
